You and she take the switchback path from the bluff to the sandy-rocky shore of Lake Michigan. At that certain instant when the crest of the sun barely peeks above the curve of the Earth, she extends her hand, you accept its soft warmth, and in the silence of the new morn, you and she stand and listen to the call of a solitary gull soaring high above the surface of the water.
